Happy Birthday and Jacob's Last Day

It was all fun and giggles this morning! The children decorated birthday hats and signed birthday cards. Then Scarlett, Jacob, Lili, and Harry opened the presents that their friends had made for them.  Then it was time for a Dance Party. We danced to The Goldfish, We Are the Dinosaurs, and Victor Vito by The Laurie Berkner Band.

Before lunch, Jacob picked out Knuffle Bunny Too by Mo Willems for us to read. The parents then joined us for lunch and the birthday festivities continued. We even had a surprise visit from Hudson! We concluded our morning singing Hey Jude, Octopus' Garden, and Yellow Submarine by The Beatles with instruments and singing Goodbye Everybody Yes Indeed as we hugged Jacob good-bye.

Once There Was A Little Old Ant...

We began snack telling the story of the brave little ant that thought he could move a rubber tree plant. The rubber tree plant was so big and very heavy. Everyone thought that ant can't move the rubber tree plant because the ant was too little. The brave little ant said to himself "I might be little but I can do this! I've got high hopes!" So he pushed and pushed the rubber tree plant with all of his might and it moved! Now the little ant can move not only one rubber plant, but many rubber tree plants. The ant was very brave and never gave up. Oops there goes another rubber tree plant!

We went to Horatio Park where we played and read Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses by Eric Litwin outside. Then we had our dress rehearsal at Integral Yoga. The children did an amazing job using their big singing voices!

Jaya Reads To Us and Practice Part 1

Brandon literally jumped into the classroom and greeted his teachers with a big "Hello". Hudson's sister, Jaya, was our surprise reader today! She read Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses by Eric Litwin. Ava from the Sunflowers class joined us for this very special event. Then we sang High Hopes to Jaya and Lisa.

Then the boys were excited to work together with the letters. Then everyone chose to just play independently and quietly in different areas. Max dug in the sand box. Brandon was excited to build train tracks and Hudson played with the animals. Perhaps the boys just needed to have some quiet time to themselves after last nights late festivities from the Art Show and Purple Cake Day Fundraiser.

Before lunch, headed over to Integral Yoga for our very first practice. We will be heading over there again tomorrow to perfect our performance.

A Day At The Park

Hudson gravitated instantly to the letters on the Daisies table. Brandon and Max joined him shortly after they arrived. The Sunflowers and Sweet Peas joined forces for their own morning meeting in which they also talked about graduation and what it means to graduate. 

Next, the whole school got together to practice our graduation songs and the Daisies stood up one by one to announce what they wanted to be when they grew up.

Happy Monday!

Everyone entered the classroom happy and ready to begin to the day. While the children at snack, we read Lili's book Oliver by Sid Hoff. At Morning Meeting, we sang I Have Friend In School Today and practiced singing High Hopes. Then we went and played in Horatio Park.

When we returned back to school, we read Antics! While Harry, Jacob, and Lili worked together to make ants, Nico, Scarlett, Jamie, and Brandon "secretly" worked on Harry's birthday present. During Free Play, we played in the sandbox and had fun with flubber.

Before lunch, we sang Sticky, Sticky, Sticky Bubble Gum. Brandon made all his friends giggle when he showed them his "broken eye". Then we read Jacob's book Eat Your Vegetables by Louis Elhert. During Goodbye, we rapped the ABC's and sang Sambalae.

"Hey Evan I special request for you. Can we sing Hey Jude?"

We began our morning making birthday presents for Jacob and Brandon. Then we had Yoga with Lakshmi. Next, we had Music with Evan and we performed High Hopes for him. Evan brought his ukele and each child had a turn to play it. Before Evan left Harry said, "Hey Evan I special request for you. Can we sing Hey Jude?" And so Harry and Evan sang while everyone clapped along.

For story, we read The Cat In the Hat by Dr. Suess. We concluded our morning playing instruments along to to Octopus' Garden and Hey Jude by The Beatles. Great singing today everyone!
