"I'm Mr. Messy!"

When Brandon arrived at school today, he was so excited to show us his brand new yellow race car shirt of Lightning McQueen. Hudson, Max, and Brandon did very hard work as they focused on working on their on their wooden piece collage. We then had Morning Meeting in the Sunflowers' classroom with the other classes. We then sang Hello How Are You and today's theme was instruments so each child took turns saying their name and the name of an instrument as went around the circle.

After Dance with Elizabeth, we moved the tables to drive cars in shaving cream mixed with paint on the floor. "Wow! Cool!" said Hudson as he began to move the cars and his hands in the shaving cream. "It's so nice!" said Brandon. "Awesome!" said Max. The more we drove the cars and moved around the messier it became. And it happened...for the first time this year... it happened! Brandon got messy! Not just a little messy but very. very messy. "This is crazy!" Brandon realized as he looked at his clothes covered in paint and shaving cream. "I'm Mr. Messy!" he then said with so much pride! Hooray Brandon!!!

For Free Play, Max talked on the phone and played with Hudson and Brandon with and magnet tiles and pegs. Before lunch, we sang High Hopes and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Then we read The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Suess. What a very messy and fun day!

A Day Filled With Sharing, Caring, and Performing

Harry walked into to school today with two of his cars. "It's Harry! Harry's here! Hi Harry!", said Brandon and proceeded to give Harry a big hug. Together they walked over to the train table. Hesitant at first, Harry let down his guard and handed one of his cars to Brandon. They played there together for quite some time until they decided to work on there wooden piece collages.

At Morning Meeting, we practiced singing High Hopes. Then we had a dance party and danced to I Can't Get No Satisfaction and Get Off Of My Cloud. After French, the children were so brave as they sang High Hopes to the Daisies and Sunflowers.

"Scarlett, I like your headband!" - Lili

Horatio Park

We had Morning Meeting together with the Sunflower's and Daisies' classes. Then we all went to Horatio park where the children did lots of climbing, blew bubbles, drew with chalk and ran around! What a gorgeous day! When we returned to school, the children took turns splatter painting with Popsicle sticks. "Throw it, throw it!" the children chanted and giggled as they worked.

Before lunch we sang High Hopes and the ABC's and read Jamberry.

What a gorgeous day!

"Leaves, Flowers, and Branches"

Harry was so excited to show us his owl this morning that we read Owl Moon during snack. Then we had a quick meeting and we went to Horatio Park early to enjoy the beautiful weather. The children were so excited to run, slide down the slide, climb, and draw with chalk. When we returned, we had music with Evan and the children each had a turn to play his African violin. After Debbie read Little Gorilla, we laid down on the floor, looked up at the class tree, and asked the class if they we need to add more to it. "Leaves, flowers, and branches," Harry, Lili, and Scarlett mentioned.

Busy Day

What a busy day we had! First, Max, Brandon, and Hudson raced their cars and built towers with the Unifix cubes. Then we had Morning Meeting with the Daisies and the Sunflowers. Then we went out for a walk to the store to buy Q-Tips for some projects and had such an amazing adventure.

When we returned from our walk, Max, Hudson, and Brandon were very focused as they created a masterpiece for the art show using tempera paint, brushes, glue bottles with tempera paint, and flowers. We concluded our morning singing High Hopes.

Feelin' Groovy!

As the children arrived at school, they gravitated towards the unifix cubes on the table. The children noticed that the more cubes they added to their "towers" the more likely the towers would bend and fall. The teachers were just as fascinated as they children by the cubes and observing the children use their problem solving skills.

During snack, we read Miffy the Artist. Then Rachel worked with the children to create our group project that will be up for auction at the Art Show. Sorry folks, you will have to be patient. It will be revealed and up for auction at the BMS Art Show and Purple Cake Day fundraiser!

After French with Deborah, we danced to The Goldfish song and played to Come On and Sing With Me. During our Reflection Meeting before Pick-Up, we asked the children what they liked about today. Here is what they said:

"Painting!" - Brandon
"Washing my hands and painting with Jacob." - Harry
Jacob agreed that he liked that too.
"I liked singing frogs speckled frogs." - Scarlett
"I liked to build my own tower."- Jamie
"I like painting with Nico."- Lili
"Painting!" - Nico

To Patterns, Papayas, and Beyond

Scarlett, Max, and Hudson practiced making patterns when they arrived at school. Each child beamed with pride as they finished this fun challenge. After snack, we had Morning Morning and sang 5 Green and Speckled Frogs. Then we guessed the letters of our names. "No peeking!" the children giggled as we surprised them with each name.

"Can we go outside, Jennifer?" Max asked. "Yeah let's go outside!" Scarlett and Hudson agreed. So we grabbed the bucket of chalk and drew outside. Max and Scarlett drew lines while Hudson sat in the ground and drew a circle around his body. "I see my shadow!" Hudson as he drew. Then the children took turns trying to trace their shadows outside. This was such a nice way to revisit shadows together outside in the sunlight.

Then we worked with clay. Hudson and Scarlett made drum sets and Max made a violin. During lunch, we read Stars! Stars! Stars!.  As the teachers were reading Hudson shared, "Planets are in the Milky Way... A papaya looks like a moon because it is a 100 in size." We are very much looking to Hudson bringing in a papaya on Thursday for further investigation. We concluded our morning singing High Hopes as requested by Max, Hudson, and Scarlett.
